Goin’ to San Francisco!

dayo won’t be in SF until 9:30 that evening, so I’ll be there for about a day with nothing to do.

At some point after she gets off work, I’ll probably catch up with feorlen, but the morning and afternoon, I have no plans. Anyone on my flist in the SF area want to get together?

Also, we’re planning to head out to Power Exchange at some point while we’re there.

[Edit] Wednesday the 13th. Apparently, I neglected that bit of information.

      • Eek! On the 13th I’ll be in Mountain View (Google bought us, you know?) If you want to take the train down here around lunchtime, I can take you to the world-famous Google restaurants and we could maybe even go to the Computer History Museum around the corner. Sadly, though, I won’t be home in San Francisco until late.

      • If you end up in Mountain View during the evening (meaning, after 5:30), I’d love to meet up for dinner or coffee…

We’ve not met, but merovingian will vouch for me. I think. ~grin~

{edited to add} It was pointed out that I totally mis-read your original post, and you will not, in fact, be around in the evening. Don’t mind me.

  1. If it’s a weekday, I’m available for lunch. We’ve never met, but I’m a fan of your writing, and would love to buy you a meal as a “thank you for all your cool work”. Likewise, if there’s some kind of meetup, that would be cool.

You can e-mail me at aiyume at pobox dot com.

      • I work right by the Civic Center BART stop, but wander down to Powell regularly for lunch. I tend to take lunch a bit early to avoid the crowds (11:15-11:30 to start), but I’m flexible.

We have a hell of a burger place (which also does turkey and salmon burgers, if that’s your taste and times being what they are) a couple blocks from my office, or the SF Shopping Center has a food “emporium” (read: fancy food court) with some nice restaurants for variety.

  3. If your in the south bay…

We also have never met but I have found many of your writings interesting and thought provoking over the years. If your around the Cupertino area and want to lunch at “the fruity computer company” please drop me a line.

(Alias email which I will nuke after you leave. Besides will be interesting to see how many spambots “read” your journal. 🙂 )

    • Re: If your in the south bay…

I have no conception of California geography, so I don’t know how close Cupertino is to SF, or whether it’s realistic to day trip out there from the airport with all my luggage in tow. What do you think?

      • Re: If your in the south bay…

San Francisco International is roughly 45 – 75 mins by multiple permeations of many forms of transportation (train / car / shuttle van / taxi / feet / bus) away from here.

I would not suggest it with luggage in tow etc. but maybe if your staying in the city for a couple of days (no clue here) it might work. Certainly is easy to get from the City to Cupertino.

Let me know, otherwise maybe next time.

    • Can you actually play at the Armory? We’ll have a couple nights in SFO but limited transportation (other than public/cabs) but I’d be interested in what else might be around. I’m also on a somewhat limited erm pr0n budget so if each place has like a 30$ cover I’m going to have to limit it to one.

      • You know, I should have checked myself before I said anything about the Armory. I’ve never been there, but heard good and interesting things about it.

Hopefully the link here will give you the info you want.

  9. There are lots of great CA restaurants.
My favorite is La Fondue which is almost by San Jose.
    There’s also Bacchanaus.
I can’t think of the place I loved in SF proper, I want to say it was the Indigo Room or something like that.
