Question to anyone who might know Gainesville…

Shelly’s birthday is this Thursday. She would really like to have dinner at a place that serves bananas Foster–something about bananas on fire and the coming of the Great Cthulhu and something, I don’t know. Anyway, she has her heart set on flaming bananas, and I sadly don’t have the faintest idea where to find such things. Anyone?

That’s where we went, and they have Bananas Foster indeed. in fact, they made quite a show of it, with a special tableside burner used just for the purpose.

      Thanks!

  1. Any 4 star or higher establishment can do it, it’s a common desert even if not on the menu. If you’re not sure, find the biggest nicest hotel in the city, call it’s main restaraunt and ask if they could specially prepare one (it may not be on the typical desert menu). If you do this and time it right (not during dinner rush, etc) they’ll likely be very happy to accomodate you. Make a reservation and include the custom order in the reservation and you’ll be set.

I used to do such things all the time 😉

  3. If ‘Mimi’s Cafe’ has made it up that way, they do Banana’s Foster. Also any of the other New Orleans themed chains, like Copelands, should have it.

Other idea is to find restaraunts who specialize in flambe’.

  5. I do belive that “Sweet Dreams” sells Banana’s Foster. It’s a ice cream place only though. You could go to the very nice Mildred’s Big City Food which is next door to Sweet Dreams though. Google should show you the way.

  7. IF you lived in Ithaca and IF the restaurant I’m thinking of hadn’t shut down a year ago I would have a wonderful suggestion for you. Unfortunately your answer to the first won’t fit and my answer to the second SUCKS… they were a grand restaurant but now *poof* gone! 🙁

    hmmmmmmmm… bananas foster…… *drool!*
