– Moving to Atlanta soon.

Funny story about that.
We were going to move to Boston, and in fact Shelly ad already moved up there…then the position I’d been offered kind of evaporated, and we ended up back in Tampa.
So now here we are. I have a client that’s moving to Atlanta, and wants to take me along, so off to Atlanta we go!

– I wouldn’t bother paying the deposit on your current place unless the penalties for being caught with an unlisted pet are too high, especially since you’re leaving soon. I’ve had really good luck with hiding cats.
– A kitty carrier takes up less space than most monitors. 😉
– Assuming he’s healthy, vet bills should be negligible, perhaps around $100 a year. Food, litter, toys, etc. don’t really add up that quickly for a single cat either. (Now four cats are a different story….)
– He may quiet down or he may not. You may get used to it or you may not. But he’s sooo cute!

Everyone needs a fuzzy, purry, walking attitude to show them their place in life.
They’ll love on you when you are sad or sick.
Attack your legs when you least expect it.
You will learn another language if the cat is smart enough.
Sheer bliss of petting something with fur that soft is very good for your brain and the cat says you are supposed to do it anyway….

Still, I think he’s ours…he’s so sweet….

Hmm. Lately, I’m starting to think that this cat doesn’t communicate so much as whine. And boy, he can make more noise than any animal twice his size I’ve seen before.
Still, that’s what Super Soaker squirt guns are for, and if we can break him of that habit, he’ll be pretty close to the perfect cat. So I think we’re keeping him regardless…

That sounds expensive; almost $200 a year, right? With luck, he won’t generate two hundred dollars a year in vet bills.
well, i used to give my cat advantage(flea med) monthly and take him to get groomed & includes all shots & emergencies…

I find cats do choose you. All of mine have, anyway.
As for keeping him. . . if you’re in doubt, you might try finding out if someone is desperately looking for him. (I’ve had a cat or two escape when I thought there was no way they could!) Check the local shelters, put signs up there, there’s usually an on-line community for lost animals in most areas. Keep trying too: I’ve heard heartbreaking stories of people spending weeks looking for their pets only to find they were euthanized within days or hours of them nearly finding them. If this cat is in good condition, he likely belongs to someone. Granted, they could have booted him hoping he’d find a new home somewhere, but just maybe they’re worried sick about him.
If you decide not to keep him, give him to a NO KILL shelter. And if you get him adopted out, try to only give him to people you can check on later: some people answer ads for adopting animals and then sell them to labs. Yes. Really.
Another neighbor offered to take him while he was still stuck on the roof.. we would not have had to give him to a shelter, otherwise it would have been an instantaneous decision. He’s a young cat, but not a kitten and he’s not neutered which makes me think he’s been outdoors but probably fed by various neighbors.
At this point we’ve decided to keep him.

Surprising…
Well this is a revelation – not only do you have concern for baby lizards, you even care about cats – this is truly surprising to me!
I think you should definitely keep the cat – he will help ‘balance’ you perhaps and keep that dark side that you have at bay – perhaps.
The only question is, what are you going to name him?

Keep the “dark side at bay”? I don’t know about that … cats are wonderfully adaptive creatures and have a long history as familiars and other “dark side” creatures 😉 He may turn out to be the perfect companion for someone who wants to take over the world! And I know one of my cats is certainly not a creature of good … or else she wouldn’t scratch at the bedroom door at 3 in the morning and attack my feet as I walked to the bathroom half asleep.

I know what you mean about ‘biting feet’ and other such habits…my own feline shows me his affection in similar ways involving his teeth! =)
But I remain thankful that becoming ruler of the World is just a fantasy for him (one of many it appears) – I would not like to live in HIS World…
