More geeky goodness…

This one’s for nihilus:

Running MacOS X on a 25 MHz Centris

The machine is running Linux with PearPC installed on a 25 MHz 68040, with a minimal Panther install over PearPC. It takes–are you ready for this?–seven days to boot.

Man, I bet this guy gets ALL the chicks!

I was actually considering installing PearPC on my 800MHz Pentium III system, just to see how painfully slow it’d be, but geez, after this, there’s really no point, is there? Unless i want to install it on my 2MHz TRS-80 or something…

You know, even if only a tiny fraction of the female population would give a flip about this, when it comes right down to it geek chix are the ones most worth having!

How bad could it be? I’m running OS X on an 867 MHz machine right now, and it’s all kinds of snappy!

    Oh, wait… 😉

    • I was pondering installing it on my 500mhz pIII linux box! But yeah it’s already slow enough on my 1.6Mhz PIV-M thingy. Do I need to run it on a slower machine to start getting all the chicks though? Might be worth it then!

      • The trick is to shoehorn it into the smallest space possible. Me, I’ve got an 8088 Tandy 1000 that’s just begging to run OSX under Pear PC under Cygwin under Win2k!

          • I don’t have anything as slow as datan0de (I threw away all the older stuff when I moved and gave my XT to him) but I have a couple of 486’s laying around. One’s a AMD K6, not sure about the other.

  6. ok, so there is your ordinary run of the mill geek.

then there is the geek geek, sort of the “gentleman’s gentleman of geeks.

then there is you….geek of all that is geek…
I would liken it to being the “Mr. T” of geek. That then, would of course be “Mr. G”

    all hail!
