Leaving the day after tomorrow for my trip to Portland! I’m totally bouncing off the walls.
The real trick will be to see if I can teach my roomie the-no-lj-d to drive a stick in time to have him drive me to the subway, so I don’t have to spend $80 in parking.
I admit that I’m rather excited to get to meet you in person!

Good luck with the driver training and have a great time.
My lady and I will be in Vegas on a business trip.
I do hope it is warmer then here.

I can’t imagine NOT driving stick shift. You actually feel like you have control over the car. Tell D I said good luck.

Bon Voyage!
Have an excellent time! That’s one of my vacation spots still listed on the “to-visit” list.

I’m in the process of teaching both kids to drive my stick shift. The best luck I’ve had is to talk first about finding the “sweet spot” on the clutch. No gas, right foot on brake. Slowly let up on clutch until it just starts to engage, push it back in. Do it again. and again. Get to know that spot. (G-spot, perhaps, for gear-spot?) Now, add a little gas just as you get there, one foot goes up as the other goes down.
Good luck!

A trick for your friend… take it slowly. Take him for a spin around back streets. The first 2-3 gears are the hardest to learn. The first is a killer uphills.
I own manual car. I’d walk before I had to drive an automatic.

Have an excellent time! I recommend finding an empty parking lot (like a High School, after hours) to teach your friend 🙂
Do you ever get up to Madison, WI?

Any reason you can’t park your car at one of the train stations that don’t charge and take the rail to the airport, like I do when I work up there?

My sweetie keeps saying he’s going to teach me to drive stick, and he hasn’t yet. He’s been saying this for over a year.
