He’s so CUTE!

Last Friday, we found this guy running around in the street. I went out and made friends with him, then we kept him in the back yard and gave him food and water ’til we could look for his owners. He didn’t have a collar or tags, and we couldn’t find an online lost dog report, so we brought him in to the vet to see if he had a microchip.

No dice.

So we brought him to a shelter. They found his owners the next day, but his owners didn’t want him back. I hate people who don’t take care of their pets–especially one as sweet and loving as this guy. Shelter says they will have no problem placing him. Preferably with a family who will actually care about him.

  1. Yuck, that really sucks about the previous owners. 🙁 I can’t understand why anyone would do that either. Looks like he got lucky meeting you guys though!

  3. That’s a little similar to the way the kitty in this icon got found – he was wandering the streets and when we found his owner a month later they didn’t want him back. (They had something like 8 cats at the time, and this guy was over a year old and had never been to the vet in his life.)

  5. OMG puppy!

In a near-reversal of the usual stereotype, when I was growing up, my parents got pets for themselves but it was the kids who took care of them because they (the parents) were the irresponsible ones who couldn’t bother. Instead of, you know, parents who get pets for their kids and the kids get bored with them, while the parents didn’t really want the pets themselves.

  7. Yeah….The dog who’s living here now was abandoned. She’d been spayed recently (the incision was healed but just a tiny bit red), and had a collar but no tags. Skinny as all get-out. I find it hard to believe that the owners would take the time and money to have her spayed, then drive her out to hell-and-gone and dump her.

I fed her, watered her, took her into the vet for de-infestation…and brought her back, where she’s been for four? five? years now. Thing is, she’s one of the bounciest, happiest, most easy-going dogs anyone’s ever seen; even the postman and UPS drivers love her. Why anyone would take that much trouble with a dog that nice, and then dump her, I’ll never understand; it was an odd combination of kindness (the surgery) and callous indifference (dumping her 12 miles from the nearest town).

  9. Awwwwwwwww!!! He looks like our Sally Girl! I absolutely DESPISE people who abandon pets. Thanks for caring enough to see that he got to a safe place. All three of our dogs are shelter dogs and they are the most lovable animals you’d ever want to be around.
