  1. Those pictures are sweet.

Last time I traveled with a cat it was an hour and a half of yowling “NNNOOOOOOO” on the seat next to me until I let her out of the carrier and trusted her to sit nicely in the back seat with my kids.(she did for the remainder of the un-air conditioned 6 hour drive)

Hope you and Liam have safe travels the rest of the way west and a happy landing when you get to your new home.

  3. He is much better behaved than my beast, who turned out not to be able to deal with one hour of travel across London and demanded to be let out of the carrier. I thought she just wanted to take a look around and since we were crawling along at a snail’s pace less than a mile from home, I let her.

After ten minutes she came back, snuck back into the carrier, and started making a growling noise that I was able to decode as “This car STINKS! STINKS I tell you!” after a few exploratory sniffs.

Anybody has a good recipe for getting the smell of cat piss out of a car upholstery?

Liam is as adorable as ever.

  5. Nifty harness!

I’m guessing, based on the pictures, your sweet little Liam is traveling with a harness/leash instead of a carrier; is that correct? Are you using a special car harness? I like to take my cat for walks on a harness/leash combo, but getting her into a carrier to go to the local park is a hassle. If I could find a kitty seatbelt sort of thing it would make the trip much easier!

We got him a harness and leash as well as a carrier. The carrier is kept between the seats, and occasionally he stays in there to sleep for a while, then climbs out to sit on my lap while drives. The leash is just to keep him on the passenger side.
