Let me be the first to thumb my nose at entropy and say “I told you so!” (though I had the mechanism all wrong).
By the way, I find that betting against the heat death or dark energy explosion of the universe is a pretty safe bet- if you’re right then you can gloat forever. If you’re wrong, well, nobody will be around to laugh at you.

Here’s something to chew on:
if we equate atomic theory with cosmic theory, and string theory, then our layer of universe may in fact be the sheet or corner cube of a larger crystal say, and if so, there are prolly other intellegences trying to figure out atomic theory (which would be to them, infinately small) while simultaneously we are trying to find cosmic truth which is infinately large for us.
What if there are sentient beings right now working out their own universal laws on our atomic scale?
