  1. Grammar doesn’t matter that much. Grammatically-correct searches like “How can you…,” “How can a person…,” and “How can someone…” all bring up results consistent with the “How can u…” image. It’s just the high-falutin’ word “individual” that yields anything noticeably different.

  3. Shouldn’t this be “Semantically-distinct, non-overlapping word choices and their effect on the distribution of likely utterances (and corresponding queries), matter?”

(Also, spelling isn’t point of grammar. “how do u…” is grammatically correct, though it’s deprecated orthography in prestige forms of written English. Given that it’s a widespread casual use adapted to the increasingly-ubiquitous adoption of keyboards and SMS by English speakers over the last couple decades, it’s directly analogous to a shift in dialect.)

  5. Methinks ^^they^^ doth protest too much.

I believe these are actual screencaps that reflect actual differences in Google search frequencies. Or if not, they should be. 😉

  7. If I didn’t know the difference between correlation and causation, I would take this as evidence that typing in internet speak would give an individual STIs.

  9. Re: Body attachment now available…

Has anyone had luck ordering from VioletWand.com? I cannot get them to return my calls, emails and such. This has been going on now for 2-3 weeks with no response at all. It makes me a bit nervous about ordering when the company cannot be reached and I am looking for somewhere else to buy from if possible.
